Type specimens:

  • Plesiobaena antiqua: NMC 1648, a carapace (the anterior lobe of the plastron and the anterior central portion of the carapace). Its type locality is below mouth of Berry Creek (NMC), which is in a Campanian terrestrial horizon in Canada.
  • Baena callosa: CM 330, a partial shell. Its type locality is Willow Creek (CM), which is in a Campanian/Campanian terrestrial horizon in the Judith River Formation of Montana.

• Paleocene of United States (1: Colorado collection)

• Cretaceous of Canada (6: Alberta), United States (18: Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming)
