Type specimen: Sandberger 1842 Plate 8 Figures 7a-d; one of the five syntypes on a plaque in the Naturwissenschaftliche Sammlung in the Nassauisches Landesmuseum at Wiesbaden, a shell. Its type locality is Villmar, near Limburg (Lahn), which is in a Givetian marine limestone/reef rocks in the Cürten Formation of Germany.
