Sister taxon: Exostinus lancensis

Type specimen: AMNH 1608, a partial skull (a frontal, dentary with teeth, and a lower temporal bar). Its type locality is Cedar Creek, which is in an Orellan terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of Colorado.

Ecology: carnivore

Distribution: found only at Cedar Creek
