Sister taxa: Hormospongia acara, Hormospongia labyrinthica

Type specimen: UA 2462, an other. Its type locality is USGS 10061-SD (=79RB8). ~3 m thick silicified hoirizon, 104.5-101.5 m below top, which is in an Eifelian carbonate limestone in the Cheeneetnuk Formation of Alaska.

Ecology: stationary epifaunal suspension feeder

Distribution:

• Devonian of United States (2: Alaska collections)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
