Sister taxa: Seymouria baylorensis, Seymouria grandis

Type specimen: NTM VP 1024, a partial skull (lacks tip of snout and a part of the interorbital region). Its type locality is Organ Rock Shale 2, which is in an Artinskian channel sandstone in the Organ Rock Shale Formation of Utah.
