Type specimen: BMNH R8135 (neotype [Hoffstetter 1967]), a mandible (right mandible). Its type locality is Feather Bed, Durlston Bay (DB 108), which is in a Berriasian terrestrial horizon in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.
