Emarginachelys cretacea
Taxonomy
Emarginachelys cretacea was named by Whetstone (1978). Its type specimen is KUVP 23488, a partial skeleton (carapace; plastron; skull lacking lower jaw; right stapes, posterior horn of hyoid; right forelimb and girdle lacking phalanges of digits IV and V; left forelim), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Emarginachelys cretacea type locality, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial sandstone in the Hell Creek Formation of Montana. It is the type species of Emarginachelys.
It was recombined as Emarginochelys cretacea by Whetstone (1978), Bryant (1989) and Holroyd and Hutchison (2002).
