Kermackiidae was named by Butler (1978). It is not extant. Its type is Kermackia.

It was assigned to Trituberculata by McKenna and Bell (1997); to Boreosphenida by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004); and to Tribosphenida by Davis and Cifelli (2011).
