Paraverrucoides was named by Schweitzer (2003). Its type is Xanthilites alabamensis.
It was assigned to Paleoxanthopsidae by Martínez-Díaz et al. (2017); and to Palaeoxanthopsidae by Schweitzer (2003), Schweitzer (2005), Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006), Vega et al. (2007), Armstrong et al. (2009), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Luque et al. (2017) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
It was assigned to Paleoxanthopsidae by Martínez-Díaz et al. (2017); and to Palaeoxanthopsidae by Schweitzer (2003), Schweitzer (2005), Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006), Vega et al. (2007), Armstrong et al. (2009), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Luque et al. (2017) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
