Hyalina was named by Schumacher (1817) [Sepkoski's age data: Q Plei R]. It is extant. Its type is Hyalina pellucida.

It was reranked as Helix (Hyalina) by Slavik (1869); it was reranked as Marginella (Hyalina) by Tomlin (1916); it was misspelled as Hyalinia by Andreae (1902), Grant, IV and Gale (1931), Abbass (1967), Sepkoski (2002), Rosenberg (2005).
