Cryptosoma javanicum was named by Griffith and Pidgeon (1834) [DISTRIBUTION: Pliocene-Recent; Indo-Pacific.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Sinum javanus by Skwarko (1994); it was recombined as Sinum javanicum by Majima (1989), Wilson (1993) and Wilson (2002).
