Taxonomy
Joffrichthys symmetropterus was named by Li and Wilson (1996). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Joffre Bridge Road Cut Fish Layer, which is in a Tiffanian channel mudstone in the Paskapoo Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Joffrichthys.
