Diagnosis

---|---|---|
J. O. R. Ebbestad et al. 2016 | Shell up to 2.5 cm wide with at least 4 whorls of even expansion rate. The shell is nearly planispiral but grows more up the axis of coiling than down, thus being slightly ultra-dextral. Base of internal mould evenly rounded (Fig. 2G) with the umbilical wall gently convex, sloping at an angle of 35° towards the base (Fig. 3C). Outer whorl gently convex, but raised more steeply from the base towards the peripheral band (Fig. 3C). In the early whorls the upper whorl surface is inclined steeply, but becoming less steep adaperturally during ontogeny as the aperture is rotated clockwise (Fig. 2A). Whorl width is about 80% of whorl height, with the long axis of the aperture inclined about 15° relative to the axis of coiling. A sharp basal ridge is formed when shell is preserved (Fig. 2H). Ornamentation on the umbilical wall and across the basal carina consists of evenly spaced, rugose growth lines, being sigmoidal across the base. The succeeding growth increments represented by each growth line are imbricated, being formed from underneath the adapertural end of the preceding growth increment; the rugosity is more marked on the basal and umbilical sides. The style of ornamentation on the base continues on the outer whorl but the rugosity is subdued, and the growth lines are gently prosocyrt. Similar ornamentation and style of subdued growth lines are developed on the upper surface, where they sweep abaperturally in an even and gentle curve. The peripheral band is not preserved. |
