Euomphalus carbonarius was named by Sowerby (1844). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Straparollus carbonarius by Sedgwick and M'Coy (1855); it was recombined as Straparollus (Euomphalus) carbonarius by Batten (1984).
