Taxonomy
Stenurothrips was named by Bagnall (1914). Its type is Stenurothrips succineus. It is the type genus of Stenurothripidae.
It was assigned to Heterothripidae by Mound (1968); to Stenurothripinae by Schliephake (1999); to Adiheterothripidae by Schliephake (2000), Schliephake (2001), Schliephake (2001), Schliephake (2003) and Shmakov and Perkovsky (2009); and to Stenurothripidae by Mound and Hastenpflug-Vesmanis (2021).
