Callianassa burlesonensis was named by Stenzel (1935). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Whiskey Bridge Decapods, which is in an Eocene carbonate marl in the Crockett Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Ctenocheles burlesonensis by Via (1959).
