Tetraplecta hattorii was named by Dumitrica (2004). Its type specimen is No. 74383 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is IH 84120461, West Nanjo Massif, Mino Terrane, which is in a Bajocian basinal (carbonate) carbonate in Japan.
