Foveotricolpites pomarius was named by Van der Hammen and Garcia de Mutis (1966). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-II-97 S.G.N. (Cat.-473), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D body fossil.
