Foveotricolpites pomarius was named by Van der Hammen and Garcia de Mutis (1966). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Slide F-II-97 S.G.N. (Cat.-473), a seed repro (Pollen grain), and it is a 3D body fossil.

T. Van der Hammen and C. Garcia de Mutis 1966Tricolpate, micro-foveolate (to micro-reticulate), especially in the polar area, but less in the equatorial zone. Size ± 25 μ. Subspheroidal shape. Short colpi (± 12 μ) with margo. Polar area relatively large. Thickness of exine ± 1 μ.
