Taxonomy
Atactotoechus was named by Duncan (1939). Its type is Atactotoechus typicus. It is the type genus of Atactotoechidae.

It was assigned to Trepostomata by Boardman (1960); to Trepostomida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Atactotoechidae by Bassler (1953), Ross (1962), Tolokonnikova (2010).
