Taxonomy
Canningbole macromma was named by Feist and McNamara (2013). Its type specimen is WAM 11.192, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 02. Horse Spring, Horse Spring Range, which is in a Frasnian perireef or subreef limestone in the Virgin Hills Formation of Australia.

Cephalon semicircular, anteriorly moderately arched; frontal glabella reaching anterior border furrow; very large palpebral lobes and eyes; dense nodular sculp- ture throughout; pygidium with long axis, nine ill-defined axial rings with centrally confined tubercles, margin striped with terrace lines, not differentiated from inner pleural fields.
