Taxonomy
Acheta sedgwicki was named by Brodie (1845). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Dinton, Vale of Wardour, Middle Purbeck, which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal horizon in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Achaetites sedgwicki by Handlirsch (1906); it was recombined as Protogryllus sedgwicki by Zeuner (1939); it was recombined as Protogryllus (Protogryllus) sedgwicki by Pérez-de la Fuente et al. (2012).
