Taxonomy
Acoenites statzi was named by Meunier (1923). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Rott (Statz Collection), which is in a Chattian lacustrine - small shale in the Rott Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Polysphincta statzi by Statz (1936).
