Taxonomy
Murchisonia quadricincta was named by Winchell (1863). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Prospect Hill, bluff above river south of Burlington, which is in a Famennian marine sandstone in the English River Formation of Iowa.
It was recombined as Stegocoelia quadricincta by Wagner (2023).
