Pronorites uralensis was named by Karpinsky (1889).

It was recombined as Stenopronorites uralensis by Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1971), Ruzhentsev and Bogoslovskaya (1978), Titus (2000), Nikolaeva (2024).
