Taxonomy
Clidochirus was named by Angelin (1878) [Sepkoski's age data: O Ashg-u C Tour-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2,906]. Its type is Clidochirus pyrum.

It was assigned to Sagenocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Icthyocrinidae by Wanner (1916), Ubaghs et al. (1978), Ausich and Copper (2010).
