Eocomatula was named by Simms (1986) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori J Plie-u Sepkoski's reference number: 934,1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Eocomatulidae.
It was assigned to Comatulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Eocomatulidae by Simms (1994), Hess and Messing (2011).
