Lima haseltinei was named by Dickerson (1914). Its type specimen is UCMP 11676, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Acesta (Plicacesta) haseltinei by Moore (1987).

Synonyms

Lima perrini was named by Waring (1914). Its type specimen is CAS 303, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Southwest of Santa Susana, which is in a Danian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Las Virgenes Formation of California.

It was synonymized subjectively with Acesta (Plicacesta) haseltinei by Moore (1987).

Diagnosis

Reference	Diagnosis
C. A. Waring 1914 (Lima perrini)	This giant circular lima has a thick shell with nacreous, and outer prismatic layer. The diameter is about 160 mm. The umbones are small and the cardinal margin gradually to the posterior where it becomes rounded and into the circular margin below. The beaks are slightly ex in front, and the margin slopes at a 35-degree angle into the r anterior margin. The hinge is very thick and has a deep shaped ligament pit sloping from the interior edge of the s the exterior edge at the anterior end of the hinge line. A large sub-posterior muscle impression marks the interior shell. The surface is ornamented by many fine radiating and the prismatic shell layer gives the surface a silken appearance.
