Teleocrater was named by Charig (1967) [Charig 1956 used the name Teleocrater in his dissertation. Carroll 1988 listed this name in quotation marks under Theodontia incertae sedis.]. Its type is Teleocrater rhadinus.
It was assigned to Teleocrateridae by Charig (1967); to Thecodontia by Carroll (1988); and to Aphanosauria by Nesbitt et al. (2017).

Nesbitt et al. 2017 | T. rhadinus differs from all other archosauriforms in the following combination of character states (*probable autapomorphy): neural canal openings of the anterior cervicals dorsoventrally elongated anteriorly, and mediolaterally elongated posteriorly*; anterior cervicals at least 1.5 times longer than anterior to middle trunk vertebrae; preac- etabular process of the ilium arcs medially to create a distinct pocket on the medial surface; small concave ventral margin of the ischial peduncle of the ilium; long iliofibularis crest of the fibula (see Supplementary Information for differential diagnosis). |
