Taxonomy
Megascyliorhinus cooperi was named by Cappetta and Ward (1977). Its type specimen is BMNH P. 57621, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Burnham on Crouch, which is in a Ypresian marine claystone in the London Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
