Taxonomy
Pachycynodon tedfordi was named by Wang and Qiu (2003). Its type specimen is IVPP V12426, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ulanmannei (IVPP Loc. 77046), which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in the Wulanbulage Formation of China. It is the type species of Wangictis.
It was recombined as Wangictis tedfordi by de Bonis et al. (2019).
