Taxonomy

Mimomys was named by Forsyth-Major (1902). It is not extant. Its type is Arvicola pliocaenicus.

It was assigned to Microtinae by Kurten and Anderson (1980); to Cricetidae by Forsyth Major (1902), McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Arvicolidae by Krukover and Chekha (1999).

It was synonymized subjectively with Mimomys by McKenna and Bell (1997).
Cosomys was named by Wilson (1932). Its type is Cosomys primus.

It was synonymized subjectively with Mimomys by Hinton (1932), Wilson (1933), Hesse (1934), Schultz (1937), Repenning (1987), Korth (1994), Mou (1997).

It was assigned to Microtinae by Kurten and Anderson (1980).
Ophiomys was named by Hibbard and Zakrzewski (1967).

It was synonymized subjectively with Mimomys by Repenning (1987), Korth (1994), Mou (1997), Albright (1999).

It was assigned to Microtinae by Kurten and Anderson (1980).
