Taxonomy
Palaeoamasia was named by Ozansoy (1966). It is the type genus of Palaeoamasiinae.
It was assigned to Arsinoitheriidae by Carroll (1988); to Embrithopoda by Court (1990); to Palaeoamasiinae by Sen and Heintz (1979), Maas et al. (1998), Erdal et al. (2016); and to Palaeoamasiidae by Gheerbrant et al. (2021), Métais et al. (2024).
