Taxonomy

Leptacodon ladae was named by Simpson (1935). Its type locality is Gidley Quarry, which is in a Torrejonian terrestrial horizon in the Fort Union Formation of Montana.

It was recombined as Mckennatherium ladae by Krishtalka (1976), Krishtalka (1976); it was recombined as Adunator ladae by Winterfeld (1982), Hartman (1986).

Synonyms

Mckennatherium libitum was named by Van Valen (1965) [genotype]. Its type specimen is A.M.N.H. No. 35437, a mandible (left mandible fragment), and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Mckennatherium.

It was synonymized subjectively with Leptacodon ladae by Szalay (1969); it was synonymized subjectively with Mckennatherium ladae by Krishtalka (1976), Krishtalka (1976); it was synonymized subjectively with Adunator ladae by Winterfeld (1982).
