Gerhardtia ultima was named by Bert and Bersac (2024). Its type specimen is DBT.BC69, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Saint-André-les-Alpes, section LAC, bed 244b, which is in a Barremian carbonate limestone in France.
