Taxonomy
Avicula problematica was named by Münster (1840) [Avicula? problematica]. Its type specimen is BSPG AS VII 1725 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sosio Limestone near Palazzo Adriano (de Gregorio coll), which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in Italy.
It was recombined as Loxopteria problematica by Nagel-Myers et al. (2009).
