Takracetus simus

Taxonomy
Takracetus simus was named by Gingerich et al. (1995). Its type specimen is GSP-UM 3041, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Takra Daab, which is in a Lutetian offshore shelf shale/limestone in the Domanda Formation of Pakistan.

P. D. Gingerich et al. 1995Takracetus simus differs from all known protocetids in having a rostrum that is broader and possibly shorter relative to other measures of cranial size, and it differs in having relatively larger orbits. Cheek teeth are smaller than those in contemporary Rodhocetus
kasrani.
