Viverra angustidens was named by Filhol (1872). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Quercygale, Humbertia.
It was recombined as Humbertia angustidens by de Beaumont (1965); it was recombined as Quercygale angustidens by Wesley-Hunt and Werdelin (2005).
