Lunatia draconis was named by Dall (1903).

It was recombined as Polinices (Euspira) draconis by Packard (1918), Oldroyd (1927) and Marincovich (1977); it was recombined as Polinices draconis by Packard (1918); it was recombined as Euspira draconis by Hendy (2021).
