Polrussia mongoliensis

Taxonomy
Polrussia mongoliensis was named by Borsuk-Bialynicka and Alifanov (1991). Its type specimen is ZPAL MgR-I/119, a skull (ZPAL MgR-I/119), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Khulsan (general) [PMPE], which is in a Campanian/Campanian eolian sandstone/sandstone in the Baruungoyot Formation of Mongolia. It is the type species of Polrussia.

Norell 2000Distinguished from other nonacrodontan iguanians by the following derived character states: frontals slenderly elongate and strongly narrowed; spheno-occipital tubercle greatly reduced as remnant knob; splenial retracted to slightly anterior to posterior end of tooth row; Meckelian canal entirely closed by fusion of dentary tube; posterior extension of dentary terminates at level of dorsal process of coronoid; marginal teeth having slenderly cylindrical shafts and pointedly unicuspid crowns.
