Taxonomy
Balcis (Balcis) aulaca was named by Woodring (1970) [DISTRIBUTION: Miocene; Panama.]. Its type specimen is USNM 646077, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Woodring Loc. 138 [lower Gatun Fm], which is in a Miocene marine sandstone in the Gatun Formation of Panama.
