Acanthopleuroceras sutherlandbrowni was named by Frebold (1970). It is not extant. Its type specimen is GSC 20338. Its type locality is Ells Bay (GSC locality 48603), which is in a Pliensbachian marine sandstone in the Maude Formation of Canada.
