Taxonomy
Aspidoceras irregulare was named by Dacque (1905). It is not extant. Its type locality is Atschabo, which is in a Kimmeridgian shallow subtidal limestone in Ethiopia.

It was recombined as Simaspidoceras irregulare by Howarth (1998).
