Taxonomy
Baculites schencki was named by Matsumoto (1959). Its type specimen is UCLA 28830 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CIT Loc. 1034 - Oak Run Rd [Member IV], which is in a Coniacian coastal siliciclastic in the Redding Formation of California.

It was corrected as Baculites schenki by Cooper (1978).
