Eulima thersites was named by Carpenter (1864). It is extant. Its type specimen is USNM 11795, a shell.
It was recombined as Balcis (Vitreolina) thersites by Valentine (1958); it was recombined as Balcis thersites by Kanakoff and Emerson (1959); it was recombined as Melanella thersites by Oldroyd (1925) and Hendy (2021).
