Bauneia mokhtensis was named by Beauvais (1980). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is J. Bou Mokhta (1), Atlas Mountains, which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in Morocco.
