Taxonomy
Atrypa neglecta was named by Hall (1852).

It was recombined as Rhynchonella neglecta by Hall (1859); it was recombined as Camarotoechia (Stegerhynchus) neglecta by Bassler (1915); it was recombined as Camarotoechia neglecta by Hall and Clarke (1893) and Gillette (1947).
