Taxonomy
Cardiaster deciper was named by Cooke (1953). Its type specimen is USNM 108389 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 13539, Big Deciper Creek, which is in a Campanian carbonate chalk in the Saratoga Chalk Formation of Arkansas.
