Pseudomonotis scutiformis was named by Teller (1886). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Holotype, a valve (left valve).
It was recombined as Monotis scutiformis by Bychkov et al. (1976); it was recombined as Monotis (Eomonotis) scutiformis by Grant-Mackie (1978).
