Echinocorys pyrenaicus was named by Seunes (1888).

It was recombined as Echinocorys scutata pyrenaica by Kroh (2001).

Synonyms
  • Garumnaster lamberti was named by Kuehn (1930). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bruderndorf, which is in a Danian transition zone/lower shoreface sandstone in the Bruderndorf Formation of Austria.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Echinocorys scutata pyrenaica by Kroh (2001).
