Anderson 1958Shell large at maturity, subcircular in outline, equivalve, somewhat lenticular in form ; hinge line straight, beaks subterminal, small, forming the apex of an angle of about 95° or more between the hinge line and the anterior margin of the shell ; surface marked by con­ centric ridges, or undulations ; the spaces between the ridges widening rapidly with growth ; surface otherwise smooth.
